Friends and Trail Angels

The PCT is just as much about people as it is about hiking. The generosity, kindness, and friendship I experienced while thru-hiking will stay with me for the rest of my life. There are countless of people who I met on the trail that I did not manage to take a picture of, so these are just SOME of the people with whom I shared the trail.

“Chips” and I. My best friend on trail. I met Chips near mile 300, and started hiking with him in the Sierra. We made it to Canada together

“Moontrain” - we hiked almost half of the trail together, from Kennedy Meadows to the end of Oregon. One of my dearest friends on-trail

“Gazelle” - we only hiked briefly in Northern California, but she gave me a much needed boost when my morale was low. I had just gotten back on trail after getting sick in S. Lake Tahoe, and was still not feeling my strongest. I contemplated quitting the trail, but the next day I met Gazelle and she encouraged me to keep hiking Picture by @rachelmccreesh_

My friends, Nick and Alicia, met me on trail at Idyllwild and hiked with me up to San Jacinto Peak and camped with me for one night.

By pure coincidence, I ran into “Sash” again almost 1,000 miles later in NorCal near Truckee. He treated me and these other guys to lunch
